Bible Reading Group Homework

1.    When were you listened to with the kind of love that made a difference in your life? Tell about the experience.

2.    Read or listen to Acts 10:44-48. Scan or read all of chapters 10 and 11 to get the full story of the breaking down by God of racial prejudices. List all the people who had prejudice and tell what God did about each.

3.    Read or listen to Psalm 94. How do you feel about calling on the vengeance of God toward someone who is oppressing you? How do you feel about it if it’s someone else calling on the vengeance of God toward you? Is David’s use of such language helpful or not?

4.    Read or listen to 1 John 5:1-5. What do you think love to fellow humans has to do with keeping the commandments of God? What are the benefits John cites for doing this?

5.    Read or listen to John 15:9-17. Use the same discussion starters as in Number 4 above. After pondering together for a bit, describe what you think this love toward one another would look like. Draw, paint, poeticize, sing, or dance about this love. Then read the passage aloud together, listening kindly to each other’s voices.
