1.    What feelings come up when you think about the future? Talk and listen to each other about these feelings.

2.    Read or listen to Revelation 16:1-2. Scan verses 1-9 and then review the trumpets in Revelation 8:6-12. Notice the similarities and differences between the trumpets and the plagues. The first four trumpets describe natural phenomena, and we cited pollution in soil, ocean, water, and air. The first four plagues affect totalities in natural phenomena, and they are more clearly connected with choices of worship.

3.    Read or listen to Revelation 16:1-2. Compare Exodus 9:8-11. Scan the context there to understand the role of the magicians in Pharoah’s court and how their sores connected to their obstructions to God’s plan.

4.    Read or listen to Revelation 16:1-2. Compare Psalm 91:1-4. Scan that context to notice the many promises to those who trust God in the midst of surrounding plagues.

5.    Read or listen to Revelation 16:1-2. What two facts identify those who receive this plague? You can review this mark and image of the beast in Revelation 13:14-18; 14:9-11; 15:1-4. How might a boil, ulcer, or some other sore be a fitting consequence of accepting a mark or worshiping an image? Whom will you worship today?

Finale: What means the most to you out of today’s reading of Revelation 16:1-2? What will you do about it now?
