Romans 4:13-17

1.    We are in the midst of the chapter about the wonders of “imputed” (counted, reckoned, concluded, accounted, esteemed). Last session was all about circumcision and today’s session is about heirship, all of it “imputed.”

2.     Read and discuss how many were supposed to be blessed through Abraham, Genesis 12:3; 17:4; 18:18; 22:17-18.

3.    What memories to do you see in verse 17? What personal and community hope do you see in verse 17? (Compare Psalm 33:6-9.)

4.    What joy or excitement comes to you from this text? What questions arise for you out of the reading of this text? What did you learn that was new to you, or a new way of looking at something? What does this text tell you about God and about yourself? About humans in general?
