Romans 3: 21-26

1.    What would you say is the function of this passage in the outline of the letter.

2.     I’d say there is not much from the Old Testament here. Are there similarities to Paul’s other letters or echoes of Jesus?

3.    Ponder each word in this passage. Do you know the meanings of all the words?

4.     Compare Romans 3:4 with Romans 3:26. Remind yourself of the Old Testament background to this thought, and consider how it could be possible for God to be both fair and the forgiver of people who hurt other people.

5.    What questions arise for you out of the reading of this text? What did you learn that was new to you, or a new way of looking at something? What does this text tell you about God and about yourself? About humans in general?
