1. Who in your group liked math as a child? Who likes it now?
2. Read or listen to Daniel 12:1-13. Compare these texts for these words: Time of trouble (Matt 24:21). Written in the book (Rev 3:5; 13:8; 22:19. Those who sleep awake (John 5:25-29).
3. Read or listen to Daniel 12:1-13. Find the places in this chapter where Daniel is told to shut or seal the book. Compare the oath in Revelation 10:5-7. Compare what happened to the open book (Daniel probably) in Revelation 10:1-2, 8-11. Compare also the instructions to John about the book of Revelation (1:3; 22:10).
4. Read or listen to Daniel 12:1-13. Where did we see earlier a “man clothed in linen”? Daniel 10:5-6. Notice Daniel is still saying he doesn’t understand (v. 8), so I wonder if he felt discouraged at the words of v. 10.
5. Read or listen to Daniel 12:1-13. Check out the math in vv. 11-13. Some say the 1335 days back up from the end of the 2300 days, like this: 1843-44 C.E. minus 1335 equals 508 C.E. (oppression begun to be set up) plus 1290 equals 1798 C.E. (oppression finished) minus 1260 equals 538 C.E. (oppresion fully set up). These are great dates to keep in mind when reading Revelation about the three and one-half years, the 42 months, and the 1260 days. What is your next step after reading Daniel?
