I wonder what was the trauma and fate of God-worshiping individuals when the nation did evil and then was oppressed. Judges 4:1-7

Children watch their parents and other adults for provision, instruction, beauty, and affection. That's how my eyes turn to God. Psalm 123

How does one watch and be sober? Comfort and encourage one another, build up and strengthen each other. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

"After a long time the Lord comes." I live in the "long time." I could get used to the Lord's absence, Lord have mercy. Matthew 25:14-30

Thoughts about Listening

Listening to, and seeking to understand with respect, those we oppress would be a first step toward deliverance. Judges 4:1-7

If I have more ease in life than others, contempt toward them is the last thing I should be showing. Psalm 123

My words affect my walk. So let us choose upbuilding, strengthening, comforting words. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

Bible Reading Group Homework

1.    When was the last time someone tried to comfort you in a tough time? Did it work?

2.    Read or listen to Judges 4:1-7. Ponder and discuss: Does God have the right to withdraw His protecting and providing reach whenever He wishes? On what do you base your conclusion?

3.    Read or listen to Psalm 123. Ponder and discuss: Do people have a right to complain to God about the way He treats them? On what do you base your conclusion?

4.    Read or listen to 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11. Choose or create together some phrases that could be well used to comfort someone in grief or pain. Will you let those words color your relationships today?

5.    Read or listen to Matthew 25:14-30. Draw, dance, or dramatize this parable. What impresses you most about the reward of the faithful? What are the reasons the third servant hid the resources? Have you ever acted in similar ways? What were your motives? Have you ever blamed God for the way your life turned out? Do you think God hears when humans pray in blame and complaint? Did you find comfort?
