1. Research the geographical area around the Euphrates River and tell your group what you learned.
2. Read or listen to Revelation 16:12. Scan three sets of seven in Revelation (Seals, Revelation 6:1-8:1; Trumpets, Revelation 8:6-11:19; Cups, Revelation 16:1-21). How does the amount of space given to the sixth increment differ from that given to all the other increments? Discuss what significance this finding might have.
3. Read or listen to Revelation 16:12. The Euphrates River is associated in the Bible with Babylon and the Nile River with Egypt. Babylon is where the people of Israel were held in exile and Egypt is where the people of Israel were held in slavery. Discuss the similarities and differences between these two.
4. Read or listen to Revelation 16:12. Compare 2 Chronicles 36:22-23; Isaiah 42:2, 24-28 43:15; 44:27-28; 45:13-18; and Jeremiah 50:38; 51:13, 36-37. List and discuss the similarities in the stories of Cyrus with the pictures in Revelation 16:13. Discuss what place the expected fall of Babylon may have had in the emotions of the people of Israel.
5. Read or listen to Revelation 16:12. Read also Daniel 1:1-6, 21; 5:1-31; 6:28; 10:1. Re-tell the story of the fall of Babylon. What do you think were the causes of its fall?
