Romans 11:13-24

1.    Review the Old Testament metaphors and parables of the vineyard (Genesis 49:22; Psalm 80:14-15; Isaiah 5:1-7; Jeremiah 12:10-11).

2.    Also review Jesus’ parables about the vine or vineyard (Matthew 20:1-8; 21:28; 21:39-41 [Mark 12:1-8; Luke 20:9-16]; Luke 13:6-7; John 15:1-9).

3.    Please consider the points of congruence and the main points of these metaphors and parables in two arenas, that of personal salvation, and that of the roles of certain groups through history.

4.    What joy or excitement comes to you from this text? What questions arise for you out of the reading of this text? What did you learn that was new to you, or a new way of looking at something? What does this text tell you about God and about yourself? About humans in general?
