Revelation 21:9-22

Desplazar hacia abajo. Scroll down for Spanish.

1.    Tell about an experience of finding out something is much bigger than you expected it to be.

2.    Read or listen to Revelation 21:9-22. For the backstory on Jerusalem, look for Mount Moriah in Genesis 22; 1 Chronicles 21; and 2 Chronicles 3-4. What might Abraham and David have to say about the foundations of Jerusalem?

3.    Read or listen to Revelation 21:9-22. Careful measurements and a cubicle structure given to Moses on the mountain had to do with the first tent-temple the Israelites made for God (Exodus 24-40; Hebrews 8:5). Careful measurements, a mountain, and a wall had to do with the what Ezekiel saw as a new temple for God (Ezekiel 40-48). Why such careful measurements? Why the city likened to the temple?

4.    Read or listen again to Revelation 21:9-22. Find the 12 jewels named for the 12 tribes of Israel on the priests’ breastplate in Exodus 28:17-21; 29-30. Compare this to the jewels and their names in the foundation in Revelation 21 (see also Ephesians 2:19-21). Where are the tribes’ names in Revelation 21?

5.    Read or listen again to Revelation 21:22. The city here is measured and cubical like a temple. John says he saw no temple in all the city, why? Next time you feel like you can’t see God or feel God near, remind yourself to look a little bigger. Reminds me of, “He is not here; He is risen.”

Finale: What means the most to you out of today’s reading of Revelation 21:9-22? What will you do about it now?

***************
