1.    Do you know of anyone who has taken “sanctuary” in a church? Discuss in your group how appropriate that is.

2.    Read or listen to Daniel 9:20-27. Review, seventy weeks is cut off 2300 days. In v. 24 we got the beginning date for both times. At the end of seventy weeks the Messiah’s first work would be finished on earth. At the end of 2300 days, the sanctuary would be cleansed, Daniel 8:14. Sounds like two great events. Discuss what you think are their importance and the reason for their being tied together here.

3.    Read or listen to Daniel 9:20-27. The words of Daniel 9:24-27 and Daniel 8:14 have resonance with Exodus 29:36-46. This is the story of Aaron’s anointing and the inauguration of the daily sacrifices in Israel’s sanctuary tent of meeting. Discuss what might be the significance of this connection.

4.    Read or listen to Daniel 9:20-27. Scan the book of Hebrews, noting especially 8:1-5 and 9:11-12, 22-28 to discover another sanctuary and consider what might be going on there right now.

5.    Read or listen to Daniel 9:20-27. Hebrew thinking would have looked back,  from Daniel 9 and the work of Jesus in providing the sacrifice for sin while on this earth, to Daniel 8 and the work of Jesus wielding that provision for his people after returning to the heavenly sanctuary, to Daniel 7 and the giving of the Kingdom to his people after both other works are done. What would it take to let God do total cleansing in you, as God perceives cleansing?

Finale: What means the most to you out of today’s reading of Daniel 9:10-27? What will you do about it now?

2.    Leer o escuchar Daniel 9: 20-27. Revise,  setenta semanas son cortadas a 2300 días. En el v. 24 tenemos la fecha de comienzo para ambas veces. Al final de las setenta semanas, el primer trabajo del Mesías estaría terminado en la tierra. Al final de 2300 días, el santuario sería limpiado, Daniel 8:14. Suena como a dos grandes eventos.
