1. When have you been the underdog? And when the upperdog? Tell your group about one of those times.
2. Read or listen to Revelation 18:1-5. Recall from the Old Testament two stories about Babylon (Genesis 11:1-9; Daniel 4:29-37). What is the call of God to God’s people regarding Bablyon?
3. Read or listen to Revelation 18:10-19. Find the three laments over Babylon beginning with the word, “Alas!” Who speaks them? What are their similarities and differences? Compare and contrast these with the laments in the seven seals (Revelation 6:6, 10, 16). Discuss the need for lament when things are bad.
4. Read or listen to Revelation 18. Please connect with your underdog experiences to read this. Babylon is the forces united against the underdog: the arrogance and coercion of consumerism, the reduction of all to monetization, the crimimalization of being poor or homeless, the commandeerment of language into lies, libel, inflation, entrapment, nonsense, and blasphemy; the relentless flow of noise in order to fatigue, benumb, and demoralize the public. But you and I can read Revelation and come awake!
5. Read or listen again to Revelation 18:1-5. Read these verses aloud together, or taking parts for dramatic reading. Discuss what is the solution for God’s people in the face of church, corporation, and country who unite money, prestige, and force against making God first?

2. Leer o escuchar Apocalipsis 18:1-5. Recordemos dos historias sobre Babilonia en el Antiguo Testamento (Génesis 11:1-9, Daniel 4:29-37). ¿Cuál es el llamado de Dios a su pueblo con respecto a Babilonia?

5. Leer o escuchar de nuevo Apocalipsis 18:1-5. Lean juntos estos versículos en voz alta, o tomen turnos leyendo para dramatizarlo. Discutir ¿Cuál es la solución para el pueblo de Dios con respecto a la iglesia, corporación y país que se unen al dinero, al prestigio y a la fuerza en contra de poner primero a Dios?
