The ark of God had been in exile for longer than David had been in exile. David determined to bring the ark of God to his new headquarters, Jerusalem, and they would neither of them be in exile any longer. 2 Samuel 6:1-19

It looks like Psalm 24 could have had its origin in the event of David's bringing the ark of God into Jerusalem, and a reaction to the loss of Uzzah during that event. Grant me, Lord, pure hands and a clean heart.

In Christ, we are chosen, adopted, forgiven, made party to God's will, inheritors, and marked by the Holy Spirit,--that we should live to the praise of God's glory, a mighty doxology!  Ephesians 1:3-14

We think David's period of self-restraint before the king was long. John the Baptist's period of self-restraint before Jesus didn't last as long as David's, but included even his death. I want to trust my surviving to God. Mark 6:14-19

Thoughts about Listening

Knowing someone who can hear and handle the extremes of your feelings, is a magnificent gift. 2 Samuel 6:1-19

Even in a society where truth and lies are confusing, I can seek for honesty and integrity in my own dealings. Psalm 24

Each moment, I can choose to live in love and generosity, gratitude, and truth. Ephesians 1:3-14

How soon do you quit listening to someone who is judging and shaming you, "for your own good," of course. Mark 6:14-19
