May 5, 2019, Letionary

As soon as Saul received sight and was baptized, he preached Christ, that he is the Son of God. How many other things am I willing to preach, or go on about, that have nothing to do with Christ as the Son of God? Acts 9:1-20

Lord, you have healed me, brought me up from death, and established me like a mountain. You have turned my grief into gladness. All this so I can praise you. Forever. Psalm 30

To fall down and worship means I can't bring any of my self-congratulation or superiority into worship.  Revelation 5:11-14

Sometimes I've worked all night and day with no results or success. Then I took the time to notice Jesus nearby, spent some time in worship, and results began to blossom on my work. John 21:1-19

Thoughts about Listening

I've heard blindness causes the listening skills to grow. Maybe sometimes pretending to be blind could reduce distractions from listening. Acts 9:1-20

I think we hardly realize what impact is driven by a little favorable listening. Psalm 30

Consider: Where have you felt awe? Grand Canyon? Notre Dame? In a storm? At the dawn? Revelation 5:11-14

I take a moment to consider who it is who stays on the fringes of my world with whom I would like to have a conversation today. John 21:1-19

Bible Reading Group Study Guide

1.    What place do you intentionally give to worship in your life?

2.    Read or listen to Acts 9:1-20. I have wished for an event to happen to me as it did to Paul, an event that would strike a lasting awe in me, that would overwhelm me with its directive for my life. What is your experience with awe-inspiring, life-changing events?

3.    Read or listen to Psalm 30. Tell how some portion of this psalm expresses your experience right now.

4.    Read or listen to Revelation 5:11-14. Dramatize, draw, or dance your impressions after reading this praise section. Scan Revelation 4 and 5 to gain more imagination feeders. .

5.    Read or listen to John John 21:1-19. What did Peter and the others decide to do and why? How successful were they? Where was Jesus? What did he give them to eat? What conversation did he have with Peter? Discuss in your group how the feelings went throughout this little drama. How did these pieces of the story inspire their worship from then on?
