My best intercessory prayers are possible when I am in a relationship with God that holds God in awe and me repenting. Job 42:1-6, 10-17

"O taste and see that the Lord is good." Why those two senses? Maybe "taste" gives a tentative "try it" sense while "see" gives a decided knowing sense. Interesting juxtaposition. Psalm 34:1-8, 19-22

He is able to save me, to the full extent of my sin and need, because that's what he lives for. Hebrews 7:23-28

"What would you like me to do for you?" Jesus' question twice to someone who came to him. I compare the stories and work at figuring out What do I really want Jesus to do for me? Mark 10:35-52

Thoughts about Listening

Is there always a "tasting" time before you jump in and commit yourself? Psalm 34:1-8, 19-22

If you have an assistant or a mentor who seems always to be willing and able to listen, and totally focused on your success, you are most blessed. Hebrews 7:23-28

One of the first steps to planning and achieving or receiving anything: Ask, What do you (or I or we) want? Mark 10:46-52

Bible Reading Group Study Guide

1.    How many of your senses are you engaging right now? Is there one sense on which you depend more than on the others?

2.    Read or listen to Job 42:1-6, 10-17. What two senses are involved in this reading? How did Job feel abut what he had seen? Discuss possible reasons why he felt this way.

3.    Read or listen to Psalm 34:1-8, 19-22. What two senses are involved in verse 8 of this reading? How do you think the psalmist felt about what he had seen? Discuss possible ways to bring this psalm into your life.

4.    Read or listen to Hebrews 7:23-28. Jesus is presented in Hebrews as the superpower of heaven. What is he able to do according to verse 25? What does this mean in your life?

5.    Read or listen to Mark 10:35-52. What question did Jesus ask Bartimeus? What similar question had he recently asked and of whom (verse 36)? Dramatize, draw, or dance this story together in your group. Trace and tell what would have been your feelings through the story had you been Bartimeus.
